A timid talking dog and a mysterious chicken join the scene just as a ferocious tornado strikes the lake, forcing everyone to rally together. Grandma persuades the shark to protect instead of devour, and with the shark’s surprising laser eyes, the unlikely team battles the storm. This delightful tale celebrates teamwork, courage, and friendship in the most unexpected places.
Once upon a time, it was a normal Tuesday. A very hungry shark swam into Lake Erie. He popped his head out of the water. He looked at the busy beach. He said, "I think I will eat Ohio."
The people on the beach screamed. They ran in every direction. Sandcastles were crushed. Ice cream cones were dropped. But one person stayed very calm.
It was Grandma. She floated peacefully in a yellow inner tube. Grandma paddled over. She fixed her glasses and pointed a finger. "You are not eating Ohio," she said.
The shark blinked. He rubbed his nose with his fin. Nobody had ever said no to him before. He did not know what to do. "But I am so hungry," the shark whined.
Just then, a little dog trotted to the water. He wore a green backpack. The dog looked at the shark. The dog sighed. He said, "I have some concerns."
Everyone hiding behind the snack stand stared. "The dog can talk?" they shouted. "Yes," said the dog. He looked at the giant fish. "Please stay focused."
The dog opened his backpack. Inside were crackers and a flashlight. There was half of a cheese sandwich too. He pushed them toward the water. The shark sniffed the tiny pile.
"That is not enough for a shark," he said. His stomach made a loud rumble. The shark wanted to complain more. But then the sky turned dark green.
The wind began to spin fast. It whipped the waves high. A big tornado was coming toward the lake! Beach towels flew through the air like birds.
Umbrellas tumbled down the sand. Suddenly, a chicken appeared out of nowhere. The chicken looked calmly at Grandma. The chicken looked at the shark.
Then it simply said, "Bawk." Grandma nodded. "That settles it," she said. "Stop trying to eat Ohio. Start saving it if you want to help!"
The shark wanted to help. He swam in fast circles. He slapped the water with his heavy tail. Huge waves splashed toward the spinning storm.
It was a good try. But the tornado kept spinning. It pushed the waves back. The shark was getting tired. "Use your laser eyes!" barked the dog.
"My what?" asked the shark. He did not know about laser eyes. But then his eyes began to tingle. They glowed a bright red. Zap!
Two giant laser beams shot out of his eyes. They blasted into the storm. The tornado wobbled. It swirled. It shrank down to the size of a tree. "Now!" shouted Grandma.
They all worked together to finish it. The shark splashed. The dog barked loudly. The chicken flapped its wings. Grandma paddled her tube hard.
The brave team chased the tiny tornado. They chased it out of the sky. Soon it was completely gone. Everyone on the beach cheered. They came out of hiding. Ohio was safe!
The shark smiled proudly. He puffed out his chest. Then his giant stomach growled again. It was louder than thunder. The people did not run away. They brought him their food.
They gave him sandwiches and pancakes. They gave him pizza and a cherry pie. The shark ate happily. He wiped his mouth with a flipper. "This tastes much better than Ohio," he declared.
From that day on, the shark was a hero. Grandma stayed brave in her yellow tube. The dog kept talking and worrying. And the chicken was never explained.
