Jimothy and Sunshine Wendy
By AlsonAI

When curious Jimothy spots humans gathering to photograph a golden coyote named Wendy, he fears they mean to capture her. Brave and determined, he rushes through the rain-soaked forest to warn his friend, guided by his mother’s rule to watch out for humans. Along the way he meets an older coyote who reveals that the humans are not hunters but helpers seeking to heal Wendy’s injured nose. As the raindrops fall and new friendships form, Jimothy learns that kindness can come from unexpected places and that not every human is a threat.
People gave Jimothy space now. He ate with his friends. He did a happy dance while his friends sat under a log. He was safe. But he remembered his mother's rule. "Watch out for humans!"
One rainy morning, Jimothy saw a big crowd with a glowing phone. He snuck up to the edge of the roof. His ears caught the rain, and he wiggled his black nose.
He saw a picture on the screen. It was a golden coyote. The humans pointed. They whispered. Jimothy wondered if the coyote was different like him.
Jimothy gasped. His little heart went thump. "They will try to catch her," he thought. "I must warn her!"
Jimothy climbed down fast. He ran across the wet street. He went into the big woods. He stopped under wet branches. He thought about his mother. What did her rule mean?
He stopped by an old coyote. "Emergency!" Jimothy puffed. "Humans want a coyote! She has a bump on her face!"
"We must hide her!" Jimothy cried. The big coyote stood up. He shook rain from his coat. He gave a gentle laugh.
"Catch your breath, little Jimothy. That brave coyote is Wendy," he said. "She lives very far away. Some humans call her Sunshine."
Jimothy blinked. His whiskers twitched. "But they are hunting her!" The old coyote shook his head.
"Wendy has an ouchie on her face. Wild animals cannot fix ouchies." The old coyote looked at Jimothy.
"The humans are not hunting her. They are looking for her. They want to help her."
"They want to give her medicine. They will make her better."
Jimothy sat in the cool rain. He thought about his friend Mina. And how she wanted to help him.
He thought a little harder. Some humans do help. “Maybe,” Jimothy thought, “I should find out a little more before I get all worried.”
